Barack Obama quoted this article in an interview with a reporter from Time magazine. Energy independence and independence specifically from oil will impact 4 central issues facing the country—the economy & jobs, national security, the environment, and health care. It will take a fundamental change in the way we live our lives to transition from an oil based economy. Barack has stated that this will be his primary mission in his first term—begin the transition. Nothing leads me to believe John McCain understands the necessity or magnitude of the opportunity.
The US will need a comprehensive plan integrating each piece of this puzzle to achieve energy independence. After reading about the agriculture industry we should add it to the list—one more piece of the puzzle.
